Aggie game Take 1

Resting in the shade of the ramp to put on sunscreen and stay out of the sun for a few minutes before heading down to our seats. When we did head down, we were on the 12th row and at the time not many people were in front of us and she was very concerned because we didn't get to go on the field with the Aggies like she wanted to!

GAME TIME!! She thought the jet fly over was amazing... even though she wanted to wear ear plugs. It was hot but she was up and down and met some friends and really did have a good time. The picture of her on her Daddy's shoulders is actually here yelling like Aggies to as the 12th Man. Her "AAAAAA" was quite high pitched but it was adorable!!!

She was enthralled with the band... its the stillest she sat all night! She sat on Daddy's shoulders and was mesmerized! SHE LOVED IT! It helps that that is Daddy's favorite part of the whole thing too!

She loved the Calvary as they were coming in and thought the cannon was great. We took her down as we were leaving and she wanted to take a picture with it! She even got to stand about 10 feet away and here it fire! She didn't want those silly boys standing in her picture but Mommy and Daddy were ok!

As we were leaving, she wanted to pose for these pictures...
she thought "the dog" was way too cool

and these just looked like fun... we actually have four of these because she had to take a picture with each one, not just the whole thing!

Barbee Reunion

Where it all began! The Barbee family reunion has been in Glen Rose at Oak Dale park for over fifty years. Honey, my dad's mom, and her family started the Barbee reunion. Honey had three sisters and two brothers. The only sister left is Aunt Rachel and the only spouses left are Grandpa Bill and Uncle Joe. They were all recognized this year for their outstanding contribution to our families. Grandpa Bill will be 89 at the end of September and is one of the cornerstones of our family.
Each year on Labor Day weekend we load up and head to Glen Rose for a great family affair. We may only see each other once a year but we're still family!

The whole crew... there were 67 of us total this year!

the cousins... from eldest to youngest

Family pictures are a must... unless of course you have the camera because somehow your family doesn't end up with a picture!?!!? :)

Pool time is a must... the pool at Oak Dale is one of the oldest in Texas. It was actually dug by oxen pulling plows!! It's not the cleanest but its huge and had lots of Barbee memories in it! This year it was closed on Sunday (drama in Glen Rose) so we ended up heading to the Best Western to let the girls swim. They had a blast!

Throw in some family time sitting and talking, a big Sunday lunch and of course some washer pitching and its good clean fun!

Kids being kids... we brought the baby pen so that the little ones would have a place to play without that much dirt and without having to be held all the time. Snow cones are a must and a trip to the river to see if there is actually any water this year is a kid favorite.

The one time of the year that we all get to play 42. These were some of the funniest and most fun domino games I think I've ever played. From Molly bidding "3" to Will being "Mr. Competitive", we had some great cousin time! We really should do it more often!

Lost on my camera...

The week before in-service started we had a Stroller Strong swim party at Catie's sister's house! The kids and moms had a great time! We enjoyed some relaxing pool time as well as getting to eat and visit. We really should have done this more often during the summer... maybe next year right??!?!?

First day of school...

Kyndahl and I both had our first days of school yesterday... both were a bit rocky but we survived! Kyndahl is going to a MWF learning center from 8:15-3:15 each day. Apparently she had a good day for the most part but for starters, only took a 15 minute nap. For those of you who know my child well, know that she daily takes a 2 1/2 - 3 hr nap, so 15 minutes just doesn't cut it!!! Then right before I picked her up, the plastic Little Tykes kitchen in her room fell on top of her... not really sure what happened but she was ok. A few scratches on her arms but overall ok. But that combined with tired made for a sad little girl when mommy got there!!!
My day was eventful as well.... I spent the day in Kindergarten as "support"!! WOW!!! I am not cut out for that on a daily basis!!! It was actually not bad (compared to last year), but if my child ever acts like some of those kids.... LORD HELP!! It was a long day but I did make it through!!! Lots to do in my room still but it will get done when things settle down some. I have several new kids this year that should make things very interesting!!!

Houston Zoo

We went back to the Houston Zoo Friday. It was our second time in ten days... it was hot but we had a blast!! Both times Kyndahl got to run through the "splash pad" to cool off. The second time we somehow got to see many animals we missed on the first trip!! Both times we got to ride on the carousel. Its fun to look at the pictures because the first trip Kaylah was not really walking but only a few days later, she is walking and was out of the stroller a lot more. Hopefully we will get to return to play again soon.

Summer birthday parties

It started with Baby Kendell's party and then Tyson's at Powersports. She loved her Super hero shirt and getting to just play at the gym. Then Mila's and Braxton's parties both had big water slides but she was more interested in just playing in the water. At Braxton's they had a jeep she could drive (like hers) but unlike at our house, she had LOTS of room to go!!! Fun filled parties and great times with great friends!!

Big girl bed

IT was a family affair... putting together her big girl bed. She is so excited!!! She cannot wait to sleep on it, as you can see! Kyndahl has already told us that she can get out of her big girl bed and "come visit" us!!!

Kaylah update

She is well on her way to running for real!! She walked all day today! She went from the tv to the door and everywhere else. She is really getting it under control. There are a few times that she is still unsteady but is really getting the hang of it. I am just glad that she got over her fear after her fall at Gma's. I was worried for a little while, but now she has overcome and on her way!

swim lessons....

Swim lessons have been a blast!! I can't wait for round two! Kyndahl is loving the big girl class as much as Kaylah is loving her baby class and her teacher "Miss Whitney"! She is awesome... Kyndahl loves Miss Elizabeth too!

Children's museum

Each Monday after our boot camp, we head to the Children's museum. We have definitely gotten our money out of our membership. We have had many friends joins us there, or just run into them. Many weeks we've gone alone... either way, we have a great time. Both girls LOVE playing and running and not being outside in the heat! Its really been a lot of fun and a great part of our summer schedule! We paint, jump, climb, build, play music and even "fix" the man.

Muffins

She ACTUALLY helped this time... she measured and everything! We had a great time making muffins. Both girls LOVE them and Kaylah will actually eat 6-8 of them in one sitting!!! It doesn't even matter what kind they are!

July 4th Family Fun

We had a great holiday weekend! It was great to see so many family members. Saturday Jeff, Wanda and some of their grandkids were there. Terry had shown up Friday and it was great to hand out with her!! We ran both Saturday and Sunday, it was nice. Trey and Kelsey were there on Saturday and then Anne and Ryan showed up with them on Sunday. Sunday, Papa's cousin Glen and his wife came as well!!! It was a great time! Of course, Gma, Papa, Josh, Brian, and all of us were there. Grams and Papa B even came over on Sunday. Saturday we just hung out and sat on the porch! Sunday we cooked (well I helped some...) and sat on the porch some more. The kids all drove rojo and chased grasshoppers! They had a blast. We had bought some sparklers but Trey picked up some real fireworks. So we woke Kyndahl up after dark so she could watch the show!! She loved it! It was really great weekend... Kyndahl even helped make sopapillas!! Little Kaylah was walking really well and then Sunday morning she fell and hit her head on the rocking chair so now won't even take a single step!! Oh well, she will get back on her feet so to speak soon!

Kaylah...

took two steps all alone yesterday and then three today... she is well on her way to running!!! She is just really not into the walking thing... but soon will be chasing after her sister on foot and not on hands and feet since she doesn't crawl on her knees anyway!! She bear crawls most of the time!! Crazy little thing!
