Sept 11th Tailgating Take 1

The girls went to their first tailgate this weekend! They had a blast. We ate with Megan and Micah then headed to the Kid's Zone and to watch march in. They loved the band and the Cav on their horses. It really was fun to watch them!! Then we shipped Kaylah off with Grams to head to bed and went in the gates with Kyndahl! It was a great day to spend at the Aggie game with my big girl and husband!

Having fun at tailgate! Food, football and friends!

Having fun watching the march in... every now and then they smile for the camera! The kid's zone was taken down by the time we got down there but they enjoyed watching the band and the marching and the horses just as much!

This is as good as the family picture got! Well at least we tried!

Kyndahl was a little scared, Kaylah wanted to get her and Daddy actually posed for the picture! Great opportunity but didn't do us much good!!

Too much going on to take a picture with Mommy!
Watching the "Aggies" march in... Kyndahl is convinced that Aggies are corp boys and football players and that's it!

Aggie game Take 1

Resting in the shade of the ramp to put on sunscreen and stay out of the sun for a few minutes before heading down to our seats. When we did head down, we were on the 12th row and at the time not many people were in front of us and she was very concerned because we didn't get to go on the field with the Aggies like she wanted to!

GAME TIME!! She thought the jet fly over was amazing... even though she wanted to wear ear plugs. It was hot but she was up and down and met some friends and really did have a good time. The picture of her on her Daddy's shoulders is actually here yelling like Aggies to as the 12th Man. Her "AAAAAA" was quite high pitched but it was adorable!!!

She was enthralled with the band... its the stillest she sat all night! She sat on Daddy's shoulders and was mesmerized! SHE LOVED IT! It helps that that is Daddy's favorite part of the whole thing too!

She loved the Calvary as they were coming in and thought the cannon was great. We took her down as we were leaving and she wanted to take a picture with it! She even got to stand about 10 feet away and here it fire! She didn't want those silly boys standing in her picture but Mommy and Daddy were ok!

As we were leaving, she wanted to pose for these pictures...
she thought "the dog" was way too cool

and these just looked like fun... we actually have four of these because she had to take a picture with each one, not just the whole thing!

Barbee Reunion

Where it all began! The Barbee family reunion has been in Glen Rose at Oak Dale park for over fifty years. Honey, my dad's mom, and her family started the Barbee reunion. Honey had three sisters and two brothers. The only sister left is Aunt Rachel and the only spouses left are Grandpa Bill and Uncle Joe. They were all recognized this year for their outstanding contribution to our families. Grandpa Bill will be 89 at the end of September and is one of the cornerstones of our family.
Each year on Labor Day weekend we load up and head to Glen Rose for a great family affair. We may only see each other once a year but we're still family!

The whole crew... there were 67 of us total this year!

the cousins... from eldest to youngest

Family pictures are a must... unless of course you have the camera because somehow your family doesn't end up with a picture!?!!? :)

Pool time is a must... the pool at Oak Dale is one of the oldest in Texas. It was actually dug by oxen pulling plows!! It's not the cleanest but its huge and had lots of Barbee memories in it! This year it was closed on Sunday (drama in Glen Rose) so we ended up heading to the Best Western to let the girls swim. They had a blast!

Throw in some family time sitting and talking, a big Sunday lunch and of course some washer pitching and its good clean fun!

Kids being kids... we brought the baby pen so that the little ones would have a place to play without that much dirt and without having to be held all the time. Snow cones are a must and a trip to the river to see if there is actually any water this year is a kid favorite.

The one time of the year that we all get to play 42. These were some of the funniest and most fun domino games I think I've ever played. From Molly bidding "3" to Will being "Mr. Competitive", we had some great cousin time! We really should do it more often!

Lost on my camera...

The week before in-service started we had a Stroller Strong swim party at Catie's sister's house! The kids and moms had a great time! We enjoyed some relaxing pool time as well as getting to eat and visit. We really should have done this more often during the summer... maybe next year right??!?!?
